So I'm not managing to follow fests atm, but this one from rarepair_shorts caught my attention (guilty pleasure pairing of mine) and it was only short and OH MY DOG!!!!!

My Notes: This is simply beautiful. It is a story about the journey Sirius has been on and the man he has become, but that description just doesn't do the storytelling here justice. It is poetic. I had flashbacks of reading Oscar Wilde for the first time. It is the most moving and inspiring fanfic I have read in a long time, and I beg you to go find out for yourself. And don't forget to love all over it ♥ ♥

On my birthday, the lovely smirkingcat sent me her wishes and also asked if she could make me a podfic. Her talents are legendary and I've never had a podfic before so, of course, I enthusiastically agreed! Unfortunately for smirkingcat, I'm a notoriously indecisive bugger, so the poor thing had to trawl through my masterlist to find one that tickled her fancy. She picked a naughty little Severus/Remus with a twist that I wrote at the beginning of the year.

I haven't had a chance to properly listen to it yet, because there's been rl things happening and my OH doesn't know the nature of my stories *cough*. I managed to listen to the beginning while in the bathroom, ahaha, and it even has sound effects!! I hope to be able to listen to the whole thing in all its glory soon, and I will update this to tell you just how glorious it really is.

In the meantime, go find out for yourself!

PODFIC: Wiping The Slate

I am still so far behind on reading, but here's a few amazing things I've read among fests I'm still trying to catch up with.

One Thousand Paper Cranes by _melodic_

Summary: They say if you fold one thousand paper cranes in one year, the Gods will grant you a wish. What could Draco possibly wish for now that, after years of care, his mother is dead and he’s forgotten how to take care of himself?
My Notes: This is absolutely beautiful. Without giving too much away, I love the unexpected choice of POV and how it keeps the focus on Draco's condition, without dragging us into his dark, depressed headspace. You feel his pain, but you also feel Harry's optimism and persistence. Gorgeous, gorgeous imagery throughout that left me feeling light, hopeful and content.

Excerpt Fortunately, five years of dealing with monthly involuntary transformations into an essentially wild animal had equipped James with a profound sense of pragmatism and matter-of-factness in the face of most things that life could throw at him. Between the headache, the nausea, the throbbing scar and the burgeoning erection—well, he was starting to feel a bit panicky. And completely useless.
My Notes: I'm not usually a fan of a/b/o, but this story is all the good things and none of the wtf or ick. I am in awe of the MA's wit and humour in this story, in the midst of what is quite an ordeal for the characters. This is all the things, it's so funny and stupidly hot and feelsy and the characterisation is seriously amazeballs. You can't not love these two werewolfy knuckleheads!

Prompt: Betraying someone you love
My Notes: This beautiful little thing squeezes atmosphere, imagery, romance, conflict, hurt/comfort, betrayal, resolve and uncertainty into roughly 420 words with no dialogue. This pairing is a first for me, and I can really see it here. It makes me curious about these two in this 'verse, but this works perfectly as a short, snapshot solo piece that stays with you for a few days after (and counting).

I'm appalled I've read so little since my last recs :/ If you do check any of them out, please do leave love for the authors! Comments feed our egos and keep us writing, after all ;)

My Notes: This short fic beautifully captures Charlie's internal struggle with relationships never feeling the way everyone says they should, without getting too heartbreaking or angsty. The relationship that builds between the characters, and the understanding there, really leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy.

The ever incredible _melodic_ has written a Christmas gift, for little ol' me! I had to share because I know I've quite a few Snupin fans on here, as well as fans of these kinks, so go enjoy ;)
